Barbarian II was custom designed and built as an affordable live-aboard dive/charter vessel. She caters for six guests in twin share air-conditioned cabins. Her hull is constructed of steel with a wooden super structure and her spacious interior is lined with exotic Papua New Guinean rosewood, giving her a traditional atmosphere from the spacious dive platform to her saloon and air conditioned cabins. The saloon area is cosy, fitted with a TV, video, stereo and an excellent marine life reference library.

The toilet and separate hot shower are easily accessible from the dive deck. At 45 feet long she is small compared to the larger live-aboard vessels which dominate the world diving scene, but all the necessities have been incorporated into a diving vessel for those who prefer simple luxury.

Her wheel house is well equipped with auto pilot, depth sounder, GPS plotter, sonar, radar, HF, VHF and 27 MHz radios. Twenty-four hour 240 volt power is available from three generator sets (23, 11 and 6.5 KVA - all 50 Hz). Her main propulsion unit is an extremely reliable Gardener 6 cylinder giving her a cruising speed of 8 knots. Fuel capacity is 4000 litres. 6000 litres of fresh water are carried along, and with additional fresh water-making facilities, Niugini Diving ensures an ample supply of water for rinsing equipment and camera gear in the tubs provided. Two compressors, an air storage system, 220 bar fill pressure and 90, 70 and 65 cubic foot tanks complete the range of diving equipment aboard. Should you require any other specific equipment, we will of course endeavour to place it on board for you.
