Diving and Snorkeling in PNG
|
|
Papua New Guinea's coral reefs are said to have three times as
much marine life as the Caribbean and the Red Sea put together.
It is in these coral gardens that divers and snorkelers can enjoy
the diversity of the reef system.
Niugini Diving brings you to wrecks, sea grasses, coral atolls,
incredible drop-offs and large and small sea creatures of every
kind. The land and water temperatures are a comfortable 25 to 30
degrees Celsius year round and so diving is always very comfortable.
Countless reminders of the conflict of World War II in the Pacific
remain in the waters of Papua New Guinea. Bombers that crashed into
the sea and ships that never reached their destination now rest
on the seabed, awaiting the avid adventurer to explore. Two of PNG's
most famous are the B17 Bomber Blackjack
and the Dutch cargo vessel S'Jacob. There
are many more wrecks, which even snorkelers can spend many hours
enjoying and exploring.
When snorkeling and diving with Niugini Diving, all of your needs are
catered for. Niugini Diving supplies the equipment you need. Tanks
and weight belts are standard on board as well as a variety of snorkel
gear. Of course many passengers prefer to bring at least some of
their own equipment, and this is encouraged to ensure diver comfort.
Experienced dive guides are on hand
to orient passengers on the history and details of dives and to
ensure safe, comfortable diving whether you are a "would be"
snorkeler or an experienced scuba diver.
The Papua New Guinea Divers Association has an environmental Code
of Ethics that we honour to ensure that our country's seabeds, reefs
and marine life are conserved and protected.
